Since 2003, the non-profit organization Les Capucines, located in the Marolles neighbourhood of Brussels, has been responding to a few social challenges, particularly in the food sector, by providing a social grocery accessible to families in difficulty. It also offers work experience to some twenty workers excluded from the job market.
In 2022, the NPO expanded by creating La Transformerie, a kitchen that processes unsold food into quality dishes, sold at low prices. In so doing, it develops a short distribution circuit for healthy, home-cooked food in the district. In 2023, the NPO is developing a new project, La Tof Cuisine, as a convivial venue for neighborhood gatherings. The Périer-D’Ieteren Foundation has supported all these projects.
